The Forest That Drinks the Rain
After creating Sakurajima and Satsuma no Taiyō,
I knew the story of Kagoshima wouldn’t be complete without its forests.
Yakushima is that final chapter the calm after the fire and sunlight.
When I first visited the island, what struck me most wasn’t the rain itself,
but how alive everything felt because of it.
The air was thick with mist, cedar trees older than memory stood in silence,
and somewhere in the distance, you could hear the soft rhythm of water —
a heartbeat of the island itself. And then, just beyond the forest,
tea fields spread out under the same southern sky.
Their green was brighter than anything I’d seen alive, humble, and quietly powerful.
The people who work those fields move with the rhythm of the land,
their lives shaped by both fire and rain.
That balance between vitality and calm became my inspiration.
Yakushima – 7F BAR Original was born from that feeling.
Imo shōchū forms its roots, matcha orgeat pays tribute to Kagoshima’s tea,
and a touch of sanshō brings the memory of the forest air.
The result isn’t dramatic it’s meditative.
Soft, green, and quietly alive.
A drink that doesn’t demand attention, but invites you to pause, breathe, and remember.
For me, Yakushima represents renewal the moment when life slows down, and you realize that every drop of rain, every leaf of tea, every sip of shōchū carries a story.
桜島、そして薩摩の太陽。
二つのカクテルをつくり終えたとき、
まだ描ききれていない風景があると感じていました。
それが「森」でした。
屋久島を訪れたのは、ただの旅のつもりでした。
けれど、あの島はゆっくりと心に入り込んでくる。
雨の島。
霧に包まれた杉の森は、静かで、それでいて息づいている。
根は火山の大地にしっかりと絡みつき、
その下を、見えない水が流れているようでした。
この島では、雨が命に変わっていく。
木々も、苔も、人の暮らしさえも。
そして森を抜けると、そこには茶畑が広がっていました。
南の光を浴びて輝く緑。
茶葉を摘む人の手は、静かで力強く、
その姿にこの土地のリズムがありました。
屋久島のお茶は、清らかで、やさしくて、
どこか“生きている”ような味がする。
そんな景色を見ているうちに、
火と陽光、そして雨のあいだにある「調和」が見えてきました。
鹿児島という土地は、
ただ強いだけではない。
やさしく包み、また育てていく“いのち”の循環がある。
その感覚を、どうしても一杯のカクテルにしたかった。
Yakushima – 7F BAR Original は、
その想いから生まれました。
芋焼酎を土台に、抹茶オルジートで茶の文化を重ね、
山椒の香りで森の息吹を添えました。
このカクテルは、派手さよりも静けさ。
飲むたびに、あの湿った空気や、雨上がりの緑の匂いを思い出す。
まるで島がゆっくりと語りかけてくるような、
そんな一杯です。
